Here's a pattern: Someone comments on an article in a way that makes it clear they’ve read only the clickbait headline. And then someone else writes: "You know, the writer doesn't get to write the headline."
Yes, we do know. But that mismatch between nuanced article and clickbait headline is not unalterable happenstance, that is strategy.
Give me metadata: Who wrote the headline? I want to hover over a headline and see a name. While we're at it, I'd love to see the headline suggestions the writer proposed and why not share the back and forth between editor and writer? I want to see the painstaking way the writer tried heroically to push back against the headline the shielded editor provoked us with.
