Hi.

I was born and raised in Brooklyn and spoke Italian before English.

I’m a namer and taxonomist, so most of my time is spent developing hundreds of names and taglines, reading subject glossaries, fussing and organizing terminology, information architecting, and developing classification systems.

Pratt School of Information was where I figured out how to turn my interests into a job I love.  Before that I was in publishing. I wrote a few books; I edit other people’s books. The theme that emerges: words words words. I’m where I want to be, mostly. And yet if Ben Mankiewicz ever tags me in to host Turner Classic Movies, I’m there.
